Sabita Ittoop is a fellowship trained Glaucoma Specialist who focuses on the diagnosis and management of routine and complex glaucoma and provides up to date medical, laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma patients.

Dr. Ittoop holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a Masters in Public Health from Columbia University. Dr. Ittoop completed her medical degree at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and received her training in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester.

She completed her Fellowship in Glaucoma at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Ittoop is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society. She has presented at several national meetings and published research articles and chapters in her specialty. She is committed to both local and international outreach programs. She is involved in local health fairs and glaucoma screening. She volunteered her services at the prestigious LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India and provided care to the remote regions of Ecuador. She is currently seeing patients in the Herndon and Centreville locations.

Sabita Ittoop, M.D.

Sameer Ahmad is a Glaucoma surgeon and specialist who was on the full-time faculty as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2004 to 2007. A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Ahmad specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with routine and complicated glaucoma. He is skilled in most glaucoma laser surgery techniques and his experience with incisional surgery includes glaucoma filtering surgery, glaucoma tube implants, the revision of glaucoma filtering procedures, and combined cataract and glaucoma surgery.

He has special interests in advanced surgical techniques for previously operated eyes, patients with corneal transplants, and neovascular glaucomas. His research interests are in developing novel glaucoma implants as well as utilizing medical informatics tools to improve patient education and health care delivery. Dr. Ahmad received his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the prestigious AOA national medical honor society. He then served as a General Medical Officer in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Duke University where he was also selected as Chief Resident and later completed his Glaucoma fellowship.

Shafiq Jivanjee, M.D.

Shafiq Jivanjee is a fellowship trained specialist in glaucoma. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, he furthered his training as an intern at the Department of Internal Medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Albany Medical Center Hospitals in Albany, NY. He completed his glaucoma fellowship at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital at Cornell University in New York, NY. Prior to joining Glaucoma Consultants of Washington, Dr. Jivanjee spent several years in clinical practice treating various types and severity of glaucoma as well as practicing general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery.
